Issa Dempsey

Issa “Jean” Dempsey, 75, Logansport, died at 1 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 24, 2011, at St. Elizabeth Central Hospital, Lafayette.

Born April 1, 1935, in Clearfield, Pa., she was the daughter of Edmund and Lena Lauder Stephens. She was married May 13, 1951, in Logansport, to George W. “Bill” Dempsey.

She was a homemaker and a member of the VFW Post 3790 Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed traveling, knitting, crocheting and spending time with her family and friends.

Surviving are husband, George W. “Bill” Dempsey, Logansport; daughter, Tena Martin and husband, Terry, Logansport; sons, Ty Dempsey and wife, Karen, Winamac, and William Dempsey and wife, Sharon, Powell, Ohio; four grandchildren, Jeffrey Dempsey, Leslie Dempsey, Maddison Dempsey and Teighlor Dempsey; and two great-granddaughters, Addison and Emilie Dempsey.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Gundrum Funeral Home with the Rev. Clark Miller officiating. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society Relay for Life.
