Jack L. Rhody, 70, of Royal Center, died at 2 a.m. Tuesday May 4, 2010, at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne.
Born Feb. 27, 1940, in Logansport, he was the son of Millard âPeteâ and Marr Conn Rhody.
On Dec. 8, 1962, he married Bonnie B. Brandt in Royal Center, and she survives.
Mr. Rhody was a brick mason for 50 years and worked as a foreman for the Zilokowski Company before retiring.
He was a member of the Baptist Christian Church in Royal Center, Logansport Elks Lodge 66 and Royal Center Masonic Lodge 585. He enjoyed attending his grandchildrenâs activities and time at his cottage on the Tippecanoe Lake since 1989.
Surviving with his wife are two daughters, Tracey Rhody of Royal Center and Shelly Turnpaugh (husband: Vearl) of Bringhurst; and a brother, Max Rhody (wife: Sandy) of Las Vegas.
Also surviving are 3 grandchildren, Alisha Turnpaugh, Zachary Turnpaugh and Tanner Turnpaugh; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by 6 sisters, Patsy Jeroski, Nancy Carol Rhody, Imogene Strauch, Georgie Swisher, Phyllis Achepohl and Gretchen Rivers; and 3 brothers, Fred Rhody, John Rhody and Millard âMoeâ Rhody.
Visitation 4-8 p.m. Thursday, May 6, 2010, at Gundrum Funeral Home, Logansport, with an Elk's memorial service to follow at 8 p.m. Funeral service 11 a.m. Friday, May 7 , 2010, at the funeral home, Pastor Jeff Tomson officiating, with visitation 1 hour prior.
