James Eric Layman

James E. Layman, age 64, of Burrows, Indiana, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, in his residence.

Born on April 12, 1961, in Lafayette, Indiana, he was the son Donald Daniel “D.D.” and Nancy Ann (Long) Layman.

James was a corrections officer. Jim enjoyed fishing and spending time with his grandchildren and family.

Survivors, include his mother Nancy Layman, son, Justin (Amber) Layman of Anderson, IN; two daughters, Cortney Michelle Layman of Anderson, IN, Katie Nicole Layman of CA; three sisters, Deborah Davis of Anderson, IN, Christina Layman of Logansport, IN, Melinda (Joe) Murphy of Calera, AL; 4 grandchildren; 5 nieces and nephews.

Jim was also preceded in death by his sister, Carmen Diane Layman, father, Donald "D.D." Layman.

A life celebration will be held at 5:00 pm on Monday April 28, 2025, in Faith Lutheran Church with Pastor Kristen Schmid officiating.

A gathering of friends and family will be held from 3:00 pm until the time of services at the church.
