James R. Etnier

LOGANSPORT â James R. Etnier, 91, Logansport, died at 9:48 a.m. Saturday, July 30, 2011, at St. Elizabeth Hospital, Central Lafayette.
Born Aug. 19, 1919, in Royal Center, he was the son of Stewart and Pearl Smith Etnier. He was married May 17, 1942, in Logansport, to N. Jean Smith, who preceded in death June 21, 2011.
Jim was a retired union carpenter from Local Union 615.
He was a member of First United Methodist Church and Eagles Lodge 323.
Surviving are sons, Samuel Etnier and wife, Micky, Jacksboro, Tenn., and James Lee Etnier, Winamac; sister, Edith Fultz, Wingate, Ill.; brother, Orville Etnier, Collierville, Tenn.; three grandchildren, Dawne Stahulak and husband, Denny, Assumption, Ill., Brett J. Etnier and wife, Crystal, Decatur, Ill., and Angela Pier and husband, Richard, Kokomo; eight great-grandchildren; and sisters-in-law, Lorene Dawson, Logansport, and Joanie Smith, Winamac.
He was preceded in death by one brother and two sisters.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Gundrum Funeral Home with Dr. Dean Fager officiating. Burial will be in Bethel Cemetery.
Friends may call from noon until time of service Thursday at the funeral home.
