James B. âJimâ Hayden, 79, Logansport, died at 10:40 a.m. Monday, Jan. 19, 2010, in St. Vincent Hospital Indianapolis.
Born Oct. 16, 1930, in Logansport, he was the son of Oscar and Geneva Timberman Hayden. He was married June 3, 1950, in Logansport, to Mary F. Johnson, who survives.
Jim retired from INDOT. He had also worked for Coca-Cola and Canteen Corp.
He graduated from Washington Township in 1948 and was a member of the Logansport Shrine Club, Tipton Masonic Lodge 33, Mizpah Shrine Temple of Fort Wayne, Eagles Lodge 323 and American Legion Post 60. Jim enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed his many trips taking children to the Shriners Hospitals.
Also surviving are his wife, Mary F. Hayden, Logansport; daughter, Connie Taylor and husband Fred, Logansport; son, Bill Hayden and wife Peggy, Logansport; granddaughters, Dawn Kabat and husband Jeff, and Regina McAninch and husband Marvin, all of Logansport; grandsons, James Taylor and wife Marcia, Matthew Hayden and wife Bridget, and Anthony Hayden and wife Stephanie, all of Logansport; 10 great-grandchildren; four stepgreat-grandchildren; eight stepgreat-great-grandchildren; brother, Donald E. Hayden, Logansport; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two sons; and one brother, Larry L. Hayden.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Gundrum Funeral Home with Pastor Ryan Lewellen officiating.
Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home, where Masonic services will be at 7:30 p.m. followed by a Shrine processional.
