James Lowes

James Bernard "Bernie" Lowes, 100, of Logansport, passed away Sunday, October 6, 2013 at 7:55 am in Chase Center.

He was born November 12, 1912 in Logansport to the late Herbert H. and Ursula Alma Cozatt Lowes.
On July 18, 1937 in Logansport he married Kathryn J. Harvey, who preceded in death December 19, 2011.

Bernard retired in 1982 after thirty six years as a sales representative of industrial supplies for Baker Specialty and Supply Company.

Bernie was a member of the River of Life Christian Church, V.F.W. Post#3790, Tipton Masonic Lodge #33 and Elks Lodge #66. He was a former Deacon, Elder, Elder Emeritus and Chairman of the Board of the former Ninth Street Christian Church. Bernie was a former leader of Boy Scout Troop #205 and received the Silver Beaver Award and Statuette Award. He was a former Rotary Club member and had also served on the Board of Directors. He was a member of the United Commercial Travelers and was a Navy Veteran of WW2, serving in the South Pacific.

Survivors include one son, James B. Lowes Jr., Decatur, AL; one grandson, Scott (Krista) Lowes, Clarkston, MI; one granddaughter, Gretchen Roan, Decatur, AL; five great grandchildren.

One brother, Herbert Lowes, and one sister, Louise Miller, preceded in death.

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 AM Wednesday, October, 9, 2013 in The River of Life Christian Church, with Rev. Keith Kincaid officiating. A visitation will be held at the church from 9:30 am until time of services. Burial with full military rites will follow in the Mt. Hope Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the River of Life Christian Church.
