LOGANSPORT â James D. âDannyâ Mayfield, 61, Logansport, passed away peacefully with family at his side after an extended illness at 9:53 a.m. Friday, Dec. 16, 2011, at his residence.
Born July 19, 1950, in Jackson, Tenn., he was the son of the Rev. Clyde Mayfield and Addie Farris Wiggins. He was married July 3, 1971, in Logansport, to Jill K. Lamb.
Danny retired from the U.S. Postal Service after 27 years of service.
He loved watching âTwo and a Half Men,â âRiflemenâ and all âCSIâ shows. He loved to work on old cars and loved his Harley Davidson. He loved to make people smile and took pride for many years delivering mail to his postal customers.
Surviving are his wife, Jill K. Mayfield, Logansport; son, Mark Mayfield and wife, Kara, Oconomowoc, Wis.; grandson, Alec Matthew Mayfield; granddaughter, Emily Kate Mayfield, Oconomowoc, Wis.; father, Rev. Clyde Mayfield, Columbus; mother, Addie Farris Mayfield, Columbus; brother, Larry Mayfield, Columbus; sister, Cindy Mayfield-McMillan, Kokomo; sister-in-law, Paula Mayfield, Noblesville; niece, Brittany Mayfield, Noblesville; mother-in-law, Mildred Lamb, Logansport; several nieces and nephews; and his golden retriever, Jackson.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Terry Mayfield.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Gundrum Funeral Home with Pastor Tim Stewart officiating. Burial will be private in Ever-Rest Memorial Park Cemetery at a later date.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
