LOGANSPORT- James "Jim" E. McKinley, 80, Logansport, passed away at 9:50 p.m. Friday, April 26, 2013, in Millers Merry Manor.
Born Oct. 12, 1932 in Delaware County, IN., he was the son of the late Lewis F. and Lela (Mendenhal) McKinley. On Jan. 1, 1955, in Mexico, IN, Jim married Helen Mae Pierce, who preceded him in death on June 2, 1999.
Jim retired from Continental Steel Company, after 31 years of service. He had owned and operated the James E. McKinley Excavating Company and farmed. He was an Army Veteran, serving in France from 1953 to 1954 during the Korean War and a member of the American Legion.
Survivors include two daughters, Jill Patterson, Kokomo, and Becky Ann (Dennis) Peter, Nyona Lake; one son, Michael J. (Deloris) McKinley, Logansport; three brothers, Pastor Jay (Nancy) McKinley, Kokomo, Dale (Shirley) McKinley, Peru, John (Mary) McKinley, Logansport; two sisters, Judy (Charlie) Smelser, Walton and Rose "Sis" Popp, Kokomo; six granddaughters, Jennifer (Andrew) Schwartz, Soldotna,AK, Amanda (Jim) Short, Logansport, Trista (Jason) Ennis, Delphi, Sara Patterson, Kokomo, Michelle (Scott) Boldry, Rochester, Paige (Shawn) Johnson, Anderson, SC; three great grandchildren, Sheila Schwartz, Soldotna, AK, Madison and Marissa Ennis, Delphi.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and one son in law, Kevin Patterson.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, April 29, 2013 in the Gundrum Funeral Home, with his brother, pastor Jay McKinley, officiating and burial, with full military rites, will be in Ever-Rest Memorial Park cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until time of services on Monday at the funeral home.
