Services for James Stewart Shideler, 82, Nineveh, will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday in Gundrum Funeral Home.
He died Monday, Feb. 5, 2007, in Casa Grande, Ariz., surrounded by his family.
Jim was born Feb. 6, 1924, in Logansport.
He lived in Logansport, Monticello and Nineveh as well as Casa Grande, Ariz.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army 135th Infantry, serving in World War II, and fought in North Africa and Italy. Jim received his Purple Heart as a result of a severe wound suffered while participating in the Anzio Beach battle offensive in Italy on May 23, 1944. He was discharged from the Wakeman Hospital at Camp Attebury on Jan. 10, 1946.
Surviving are his loving wife of 31 years, Barbara Baker Shideler; six children, Tim Shideler and his wife, Joy, Plano, Texas, Candy Shideler McClean and her husband, Dave, Carmel, John Shideler and his wife, Pam, Lafayette, Mike Hooton and his wife, Kathy, Bristol, Tenn., Martha Hooton, Logansport, and Mary Hooton Long and her husband, Jeff, Greenwood; 19 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; his brother, Bob Shideler and his wife, Marilyn, Orlando, Fla.; and his sister, Betty Galbreth, Indianapolis.
Pastor Nord Zootman will officiate at the services. Burial will be in Shideler Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday in the funeral home.
