Services for James B. Spiker, 59, Peru, will be held at 7 p.m. Monday in Gundrum Funeral Home.

He died at 3:46 a.m. Friday, June 29, 2007, in St. Joseph Hospital in Kokomo.

Born Dec. 13, 1947, in Canton, Ohio, he was the son of George Donald Spiker and Mary Elizabeth Allenbaugh. He was married Oct. 28, 1978, in Elyria, Ohio to Jo Ann Hill, who survives.

James has been working for J.C. Penneys for the past 40 years. He has been the store manager for J.C. Penneys in Peru and Logansport for the past 10 years. He first started in Canton, Ohio, as a shoe salesman.

He graduated from Canton Lincoln High School in 1965. James also graduated from Malone College with a bachelor’s degree in social sciences. James enjoyed gardening. He also enjoyed Ohio State Basketball, football, Cleveland Indians, Cleveland Browns, Cleveland Cavaliers and playing golf.

Also surviving are his son, Jeffery Urban, and wife, Meagan, Greenwich, Conn.; daughters, Alyson Boyle, and husband, Keith, Medina, Ohio; Jaymi Poindexter and husband, Derek, Peru; Jessica Spiker, Indianapolis; and Juliana Spiker, Lafayette; brother, David Spiker and wife, Elizabeth, Mogadore, Ohio; mother-in-law, Betty Eberly, Norwalk, Ohio; granddaughters, Sara Boland, Greenwich, Conn.; Claire Urban, Greenwich, Conn.; Tate Urban, Greenwich, Conn.; and Scarlet Urban, Greenwich, Conn.; grandsons, Zachary Poindexter, Peru; and Curtis Poindexter, Peru; and one niece and nephew.

The Rev. Elizabeth Spiker will officiate at the services. Burial will be in Ohio.

Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday in the funeral home.
