Janis D. Frantz, 77, of Logansport, passed away Monday, May 13, 2019 at Memorial Hospital in Logansport.
God knew the world needed more smiles, a little more joy, and a lot more love when he created Janis.
She was born on November 16, 1941 in Kokomo, Indiana to the late Paul and Elizabeth (Raikes) Preiser. She married Maurice Frantz, her sweetheart since junior high, on August 26, 1962 at the Otterbein EUB Church near Walton; Maurice survives.
Janis graduated from Tipton Township High School in 1959 and from Ball State in 1962 (Bachelor’s) and 1965 (Master’s). She was an excellent cook (ask her family about her famous “Red Cake”), and she shared her gift for many years as a Home Economics teacher at Logansport High School. She also enjoyed watching her grandchildren in their numerous activities, always making sure to snap a few pictures at every event. More than anything, Janis loved Jesus, and her servant’s heart was a blessing to many in the community and at Webb Chapel UMC, where she was an active member for more than 40 years.
In addition to Maurice, she is survived by her two children: Rod (Rita) Frantz & Mary Beth Hollinger, her four grandchildren: Megan Frantz, Ryan (Meghan) Frantz, Spencer Vredingburgh, & Annalyse Vredingburgh, and her two brothers: Dennis (Sharon) Preiser & Mark (Andrea) Preiser.
A celebration of life will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, May 18, 2019 at Gundrum Funeral Home, with Pastor Nate Eckert officiating. Burial will follow at Bethel Cemetery, Logansport. Visitation will be held from 2:00 – 7:00 PM on Friday, May 17, 2019 at Gundrum Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Webb Chapel building fund.
Her legacy of love burns brightly in our hearts as we remember her.
