Meredith Jean Brown, 89, Logansport, died at 5:55 p.m. Sunday, July 11, 2010, Millers Merry Manor Arbor in Logansport.
She was born Jan. 4, 1921, in Logansport to Joseph and Ethel Ford Wassam Finfrock. She was married March 27, 1944, in Logansport to Leo N. Brown, who preceded her in death Aug. 13, 1989.
Mrs. Brown graduated from Logansport High School, and she worked as an operator for Indiana Bell. She was a bookkeeper at Leo Brown Construction Co. until the age of 89.
She was a member of All Saints Catholic Church, where she formerly served on the Parish Council. She was president of the Home and School Association and a member of the Altar and Rosary Society and Our Lady of Grace Study Club. She was also a Gray Lady Volunteer at St. Joseph Hospital.
Survivors include two daughters, Ethel Deichman and Leonne Brown, both of Logansport; three sons, Leo Joseph Brown and wife, Thecla, Mark L. Brown and wife, Patricia, Logansport, and John D.Brown and wife, Dr. Dianne, all of Logansport; a sister, Virginia Finfrock, Logansport; grandchildren, Kelly Bullard and husband, Butch, Logansport, Kim Velie, Tempe, Ariz., Rusty Deichman, Logansport, Joe Deichman and wife, Erin, Logansport, Jake Deichman and wife Jenna, Logansport, Justin Brown and wife, Holly, Logansport, Jessica Miller and husband, Eric, Springboro, Ohio, Luke Brown and wife, Angie, Logansport, Jarod Brown and wife, Melissa, Westfield, Maggie Brown, Logansport, Christopher Brown and wife, Monica, London, England, Katie Curran and husband, Jim, Hyde Park, Vt., Nathaniel Brown, Bellevue, Wash., Nicholas Brown, Chicago, Philip Brown, London, England, Emily Brown, Logansport, Patrick Brown, Cambridge, Mass., and Claire Brown, Logansport; a niece, Linda Anderson and husband, Dave, Kokomo; 22 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Leon, Richard and George Finfrock and two sisters, Beatrice Finfrock and Marilyn
Dalton.
A Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Friday, July 16, 2010, at All Saints Catholic Church, with Father Donald Gross officiating. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, July 15, 2010, at Gundrum Funeral Home, where a rosary service will be conducted at 7 p.m. Thursday.
Memorials may be made to the School Sisters of Notre Dame in Elm Grove, Wis., or to your favorite charity.
