Jerry J. Arnold, 73 of Logansport passed away Tuesday, September 12, 2017 at his residence.
Born on June 3, 1944 in Logansport, he was the son of the late Joseph G. and Janet E. (Snyder) Arnold. On December 4, 1977 in Rochester, Jerry married Janet Smith who survives.
Jerry worked for the Cass County Sheriff’s Department from 1968 to 1971. He then was hired onto the Logansport Police department in 1972 and served as Chief of Police in Logansport from 1992-1999 before retiring in 2000. After retiring from the Police department Jerry worked for INDOT until 2009.
Jerry was a 1963 graduate of Logansport High School. He was a member of the FOP Lodge #71 and the Wise Guys. Jerry enjoyed mushroom hunting and spending time with his family, especially his granddaughters.
Surviving along with his wife Janet, is a son, Jason (Holly) Arnold, Mentone; sister, Susan (Jack) Mayfield, Carmel; brother, David S. Arnold, Logansport; granddaughters Alexis Burge and Bella Arnold; nieces, Kris Mayfield, Indianapolis; Julie Middleton, Silver Lake; and nephew, Jeff Hoffman, Rochester.
A celebration of life will be held at 7:00 PM on Friday, September 15, 2017 in the Gundrum Funeral Home with Pastor Ken Smith officiating.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM until the time of service on Friday.
Memorials may be made to the local FOP Lodge #71.
