Services for James âJimâ Berry, 82, Kewanna, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday in Gundrum Funeral Home, where military rites also will be conducted.
He died at 11:09 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 11, 2009, in his residence.
Born Sept. 27, 1926, in Charleston, W.Va., he was the son of Thomas and Elsie Nickels Berry. He was married Dec. 29, 1953, in Plainfield, to Lois E. Vogel, who survives.
Jim owned and operated Jim Berry and Sons Inc. in Kewanna.
Mr. Berry was a member of the VFW Post 1728 in Winamac, where he was a past commander. Jim also was a veteran of the U.S. Army during World War II.
Also surviving are children, Ellen King and husband, Don, Rochester, Jim Berry and wife, Sharon, Kathy Green and husband, Ron, David Berry and wife, Melanie, and Pat Berry and wife, Tracy, all of Kewanna; grandchildren, Jeff King and wife, Toni, Decatur, Ill., Melinda Shultz and husband, Rich, Jamie Taylor and husband, Nick, and Matt Berry, all of Kewanna, Kellie Schmaltz and husband, Jake, Royal Center, Brian Clemons and wife, Veronika, Jacksonville, N.C., Adam Berry, Hali Berry, Chelce Snyder, and Sidney Berry, all of Kewanna; great-granddaughters, Madison and Bailey Shultz, and Jessica Taylor, all of Kewanna, Rileigh Schmaltz and Emilie Schmaltz, both of Royal Center; and stepgrandsons, Aaron Green, Logansport, and Patrick Green, Flora.
The Rev. Scott Ellison will officiate.
