J. Mark Miller, 79, of Carmel, formerly of Logansport, passed away Wednesday, February 10, 2021 in his residence.
Born on June 15, 1941 in Logansport, he is the son to the late Kenneth and Wilma (Swigart) Miller. Mark graduated from Washington Township High School and was Valedictorian of the class of 1959. He was a 10 year 4H Member and a ROTC Cadet. Mark continued his education at Purdue University, graduating in 1963, and where he was also member of the AGR Fraternity. Mark was on the Livestock Judging Team during his time in high school and while at Purdue University.
On June 9, 1963 in the Market Street United Methodist Church, he married Diane K. Yerkes who survives.
Mark worked for American Breeder Service where he was a district sales manager from 1963 until his father had a massive heart attack in 1968, he then returned to the family farm. During his time at the farm, he was recognized as Indiana’s top Hog Breeder in 1973. In 1985 Mark spent a year working for MOTTS in Holly, Michigan before joining PEN Products in 1986 where he worked for over 30 years as a Farm Manager and Project Manager.
Mark was a member of the Southeastern School Board from 1972-1984. He was an avid Purdue sports fan and could tell you anything and everything about them.
Surviving along with his wife Diane, are three sons, Douglas A. (Cheryl) Miller of Missouri, Jeffrey S (Jody) Miller of Logansport, IN, Mark A. Miller of Logansport, IN; daughter, Melissa S. (Amy Deaton) Miller of Dallas, TX; granddaughter, Taylor (Derek) Pullen of Walton, IN; four grandsons, Jordan Miller of Logansport, IN, Jaycob Miller of Carmel, IN, Drake Miller of Missouri, Conner Miller of Missouri; two great grandchildren , Lane & Luke Pullen; two brothers, Alan (Karin) Miller of Colorado, Ronald (Denise) Miller of Texas; sister in law, Fonda Miller of Delphi, IN.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Harry Miller.
A celebration of life will be held at 3:00 PM on Saturday, March 6, 2021 at Gundrum Funeral Home and Crematory. Burial will follow at Miami Baptist Cemetery, Adamsboro, IN.
Visitation will be held from 1:00 PM until the time of service on Saturday, March 6, 2021.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Cass County Indiana 4H Association.
