C. Joan Hanawalt, 84, of Logansport, passed away at 11:30 am Sunday July 21, 2019 at Millers Merry Manor, Logansport.
Born on January 26, 1935 in Tipton Twp., Indiana, she was the daughter to the late Robert L. and Alice (Barker) Siferd.
On September 29, 1957 in Logansport she married Allen H. Hanawalt who survives.
Joan was a retired Registered Nurse and had worked in the offices of Dr. Earl Bailey, Dr. J.M. King and Dr. Bernard Hall. She had also worked for Chase Nursing and Convalescent Center and was a former case worker for the Cass County Division of Family and Children. Joan attended grade school at Noble Twp. She graduated from Logansport High School in 1953, Michael Reese Hospital School of Nursing in 1956 and Saint Francis University in 1979. Joan is a long time Member of Webb Chapel Church.
Surviving along with her husband Allen is one daughter, Beth Hanawalt, Durham, NC; son, Christian Hanawalt, North Manchester, IN; granddaughter, Emily Hanawalt, Peru, IN; sister, Barbara Jean (Robert) Hipskind, Rock Island, IL; niece, Jill (Kent) Hardin, Andulusia, IL; nephew, Robert P. (Peggy) Hipskind, Cleveland, OH; one great niece and three great nephews.
She was preceded in death by both of her parents, Robert and Alice Siferd.
A celebration of life will be held at 11:00 am Friday in the Gundrum Funeral Home with Pastor Nathan Eckert officiating. A visitation will be held from 9:00 am until time of services on Friday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Webb Chapel Church building fund.
