Joan Hopper

Joan M. Hopper, 85, of Logansport, passed away Thursday, January 3, 2019 at Miller’s Merry Manor in Logansport.

Joan was born on December 1, 1933 in Logansport, Indiana. She is the daughter to the late Mearl and Effie Gallaway.  On September 7, 1952 in Logansport, she married Robert J. Hopper who preceded in death on April 4, 2011.

Joan graduated from Logansport High School. After school she had spent time working for R.B.M. and the J.W. Gossard Company, before becoming a full-time homemaker and always keeping busy around the house. Whether it was tending to her flower garden or push mowing the lawn, you never caught her sitting still for too long.  Joan enjoyed spending time with her family, she, with her ten siblings always made time to meet with each other every week while growing up.

Surviving are two sons, John R. (Kacy) Hopper of Logansport, Jason R. (Katie) Hopper of Westfield, IN; three grandsons, Ryan Hopper of Queens, NY, Ethan Hopper, Jacob Hopper both of Logansport, IN; four granddaughters, Caitlin (Shawn) Rentschler of Logansport, IN, Mallory Hopper, Addison Hopper, Caroline Hopper all of Westfield, IN; great-grandson, Elliott Rentschler of Logansport, IN; sister, Virginia Ricci of Logansport, IN.

She is preceded in death by two brothers and seven sisters.

A celebration of life will be held at 1:30 PM Monday, January 7, 2019 at the Gundrum Funeral Home with Father Clark Miller officiating. Burial will follow at Mt Hope Cemetery in Logansport.

Visitation will be held from 11:00 AM until the time of service on Monday, also at the Gundrum Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or Riley Children’s Hospital.
