Joel Thomas Abberger, 53, died at 2:15 p.m. Sunday, March 2, 2008, in his Logansport residence.
He was born Oct. 14, 1954, in South Bend, to Thomas Abberger and Joanne Harrison Abberger. He attended South Bend Clay High School and Tennessee Temple College.
On June 2, 1978, he married Ginger C. Fisher in Memphis, and she survives.
He had been an optician at C&B Optical One for 23 years and also was a hay farmer.
Mr. Abberger was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church. He was an avid hunter and enjoyed fishing.
Surviving with his wife are a daughter, Amy Running (husband: Dean) of Mayville, Mich.; two sons, Michael Abberger (wife: Heather) of Indianapolis and Matthew Abberger of Logansport; his parents, Thomas and Joanne Abberger of Plymouth; two brothers, Zane Abberger (wife: Eileen) of Lakeview, Mich., and Thomas Abberger (wife: Lisa) of Plymouth; and a sister, Sue Redmond (husband: Mark) of Fremont.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. today, March 4, 2008, at Gundrum Funeral Home, and one hour prior to services Wednesday at Hillcrest Baptist Church. Pastor Tim Berlin will officiating. Interment Keeps Creek Cemetery, Logansport. Also surviving are a grandchild, Aden Running of Mayville, Mich.; and his in-laws, Wink and Mary Fisher of Memphis, Tenn.
