John J. Allison, 93, Clearwater, Fla., formerly of Logansport, died at 9:26 a.m. Wednesday, June 20, 2012, at his residence.
Born Sept. 27, 1918, in Cass County, he was the son of Jud Allison and Oma Lanning. He was married April 6, 1947, in Galveston, to Marian M. Shaff, who preceded in death Aug. 10, 2006.
John retired in 1981 as a petroleum jobber.
He was a member of the Walton Masonic Lodge 123, Indianapolis Scottish Rite, Murat Shrine of Indianapolis, Walton Order of Eastern Star, past president of Logansport Noon Kiwanis, past lieutenant governor of KiwanisâArrowhead Division and member of St. Paul United Methodist Church of Largo, Fla. John also was a World War II veteran.
Surviving are son, Mark J. Allison and wife, Katharine, San Jose, Calif.; granddaughter, Emily Allison, San Diego, Calif.; and nephew, Sam Goldsberry Jr. and wife, Mary, Galveston.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Earl Allison, and one sister, Blanche Leno Pherson.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Gundrum Funeral Home with Dr. George Plasterer officiating. Private burial rites will be conducted at Washington Park North Cemetery in Indianapolis.
Friends may call an hour before services Tuesday at the funeral home.
