John Cookerly

John R. Cookerly, 54, Brownsburg, died at 10 p.m. Sunday, April 10, 2011, at his residence. Born Sept. 27, 1956, in Logansport, he was the son of Kenneth and Doris Adkisson Cookerly.

John was a certified public accountant for Rowley Bushue and Co. located in Michigan City. John was a 1974 graduate of Pioneer High School and a 1978 graduate of Indiana University.

John was a member of the Florida Institute of CPAs, Indiana CPA Society, American Institute of CPAs, Beta Alpha Psi, previous board member and treasurer of the United Cerebral Palsy of Sarasota and previous board member and treasurer of Rotary International.

He is survived by daughters, Carling Laird and husband Phillip, Charlie Cookerly, Shea Cookerly and Channing Cookerly, all of Florida; sons, Kyle Cookerly and Kirk Cookerly, both of Florida; parents, Kenneth and Doris Cookerly, Royal Center; sisters, Bonnie Cookerly, Baltimore, and Mary Shepard, Logansport; brothers, Kenneth Cookerly and wife Chris, Greg Cookerly and wife Kathy, and Tim Cookerly and wife Renee, all of Brownsburg; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Gundrum Funeral Home with the Rev. Richard Utterback officiating.

Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery, Logansport.

Visitation will be 11 a.m. until time of services at 1 p.m. at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the Fellowship of Christian Athletes or the American Cancer Society.
