John D. Hamilton Sr., 94, Logansport, died at 2:50 a.m. Wednesday, May 2, 2012, in Logansport Memorial Hospital.
Born March 31, 1918, in Logansport, he was the son of Steven D.
Hamilton and Addie Pearl Lainheart. He was married Dec. 10, 1940, in Logansport, to Geneva Barnett, who preceded in death Feb. 9, 1998.
John worked for the Pennsylvania Railroad.
He was a member of Cross-Wind United Methodist Church, VFW Post 3790 and Eagles Lodge 323, and he was also Past Master of the Masonic Lodge. Mr. Hamilton was a veteran of the U.S. Army during World War II.
Surviving are son, Marvin L. Hamilton, Logansport; daughter-in-law, Judy Hamilton, Logansport; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and sister, Rosemary Hipskind, Ventura, Calif.
He was preceded in death by son, John Hamilton Jr.; daughter-in-law, Jerryl Hamilton; two sisters, Eva Keith and Viola Coder; and four brothers, Melvin, Marvin, Steve and Richard Hamilton.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Gundrum Funeral Home with Kelly Spencer officiating. Burial, with full military graveside rites, will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.
