John F. Rhoades, 87, Logansport, died at 1:23 a.m. Monday, Jan. 10, 2011, in Community Hospital North, Indianapolis.John F. Rhoades, 87, Logansport, died at 1:23 a.m. Monday, Jan. 10, 2011, in Community Hospital North, Indianapolis.

Born Jan. 25, 1923, in Cass County, he was the son of John Lester Rhoades and Bernice Anderson. He was married April 3, 1943, in Logansport, to Ruth E. Kline, who preceded in death Feb. 15, 2004.

John retired in 1986 from Conrail Railroad.

John was a member of Miami Baptist Church. He was an avid baseball fan and enjoyed fishing.

Surviving are daughter, Bonita Ruth Rodgers, West Des Moines, Iowa; sons, John C. Rhoades and wife, Carol, Greenwood, and Ronald L. Rhoades and wife, Kelly, Pittsboro; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by three sisters and one brother.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Miami Baptist Church with the Rev. Dan Cash officiating.

Burial will be in Ever-Rest Memorial Park.

Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Gundrum Funeral Home and one hour before services Friday at the church.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Miami Baptist Church Building Fund.
