John Thomson

John Robert “Bob” Thomson, 93, Logansport, died at 5:45 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 28, 2010, in St. Vincent Hospice, Indianapolis.

Born Jan. 19, 1917, in Cass County, he was the son of James DeWitt and Esther E. Elliott Thomson. He was married Feb. 25, 1938, in Bourbon, to Vera Maxine Grable.

Bob was a retired farmer.

He was a member of Metea Baptist Church. Bob enjoyed wood working, fishing, horse pulling events and spending time with his family.

Surviving are his wife, Maxine Thomson, Logansport; son, James Thomson and wife, Janet, Logansport; sister-in-law, Carole Thomson, Troy, Ohio; six grandchildren, Marsha Venable and husband, Bryan, Yorktown, Karen Boucher, Logansport, Keith Thomson, Logansport, Dana Thomson, Troy, Ohio, Denise Wickersham and husband, Brent, Largo, Fla., and Darren Thomson and wife, Penny, Belgium; and nine great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one son, Don Thomson.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Gundrum Funeral Home with Pastor William R. Cordes officiating.

Burial will be in Metea Cemetery, Metea.

Friends may call from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
