John Whitehead

John H. Whitehead, 85, of Logansport , passed away at 2:45 PM, Wednesday, July 24, 2013 at Miller's Merry Manor in Logansport.

Born October 8, 1927 in Baxter, Tennessee, he was the son of the late Estel and Florence (Elrod) Whitehead. On October 20, 1953 in Rossville, Georgia to Rubye E. Goolsby who survives.

John worked for the Logansport Sanitation Department as a truck driver for 35 years, and a school crossing guard for 15 years. He attended New Life Alliance Church, and enjoyed fishing, watching movies and listening to music.
Surviving along with his wife is one daughter, Sharon Ann (Michael) Smith; grandson, Jeremy Moore, both of Rochester; three sisters, Bobbie Jean (James) Waddups, Logansport; Martha (Eugene) Thompson, Cookeville, IN; Hazel Halfacre, Sparta, TN; two great grandsons, Brandon and John Moore.
He was preceded in death by one grandson, Matthew Moore; one brother and one sister.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.
