“Thank you for loving me, for being my eyes when I couldn’t see, for parting my lips when I couldn’t breathe. Thank you for loving me.” (Bon Jovi)
Judy passed away surrounded by so much love on February 16 th , 2021.
Judy was born on July 7 th , 1943 in Mason City, Iowa. Judy lived in Iowa with her family for 22 years when she met her soulmate Keith Johansen.
Judy and Keith were married on February 12, 1966 and had just celebrated their 55th anniversary. Judy was blessed with three boys, Douglas, Duane, and Daniel. In 1978 the Johansen family moved to Cass County where Judy shined as a hard worker at Barker Hardware Store & Bickel’s (two of her favorite jobs). Since Judy was known as quite the cook and baker, it only makes sense that Judy worked at Candy’s Carry Outs, making the cinnamon rolls as big as a dinner plate. Judy’s last thirteen years of work were spent as the head cook at McKinney House. In 2001 Judy was named National Employee of the Year and was awarded a trip to Portland, Oregon.
Outside of the workplace and after retirement, Judy was known as a wife, mom, and grandma. Her days were spent watching the Young & the Restless, doing daily Bible studies, talking on the phone with family back in Iowa, and taking walks in the neighborhood or around the pool table. Judy loved her family dinners, which always led to singing, dancing, games, and lots of laughter. Judy’s best moments were the moments she got to spend seeing her grandkids in action, whether it was soccer, choir, band, dance, theatre, baseball, softball, wrestling, gymnastics, or school awards programs.
Judy is survived by her husband Keith Johansen, sons Douglas (Mary) Johansen of Shiloh, Illinois; Duane Johansen of Peru; Daniel (Kim) Johansen of West Lafayette. Grandchildren: Tanner Johansen, Tucker Johansen, Jordan Johansen, Truman Johansen, Mackenzie Dixson, Joel Johansen, and Leighton Dixson.
Also surviving: sister Barb (Mel) Einertson of Iowa, brothers Gary (Cynthia) Trebil of Minnesota, Steve (Susan) Trebil of Iowa, and Randee (LeAnne) Trebil of Iowa
Judy is preceded in death by both of her parents, John and Elaine Trebil as well as Judy’s older sister, Jan Harper.
Visitation will be held from 12:30 PM until 2:00 PM on Saturday, February 20, 2021 at Gundrum Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to Faith Lutheran Church, Logansport.
