Julia Barber

Julia Irene Barber, 96, of Logansport, passed away Sunday October 11, 2020 at Woodbridge Health Campus. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and soon-to-be great-great grandmother.

She was born on August 2, 1924, to the late William and Maude I. (Peter) Gangloff. On November 30, 1947, she married William H. Barber, who preceded her in death October 1, 2005.

Julia was a member of Faith Lutheran Church, Logansport, and was active in the choir, WELCA, and LCW. She was an excellent seamstress who enjoyed crocheting, embroidery, and quilting.  She also enjoyed doing crossword and jigsaw puzzles, playing euchre with her friends at Woodbridge, and spending time with family.

During her employment, she worked as a secretary at Markley Abstract Co. and later as a secretary at Myers Spring Co.

She is survived by four children, Phyllis (Bob) Wright, Jonesboro; Edward (Diana) Barber, Lake Peoga; John Barber, Logansport; Janine McMahan, Logansport; eight grandchildren, William (Susan) Wright, Tennessee; Samantha (Dave) Schmidt, Logansport; Rob (Krystal) Shrader, Kentucky; Megan (Kris) Hutsell, Virginia; Micah (Todd) Nicholson, Georgia; Krista (Andy) Ross, Arkansas; Kent (Brenda) Salla, Plainfield; Keenan Salla, Indianapolis; Granddaughter-in-law, Ginger Wright, Gas City; 23 great-grandchildren; special niece, Sherry Roland, Missouri; her first great-great grandson, Oliver, is due in November.

She was preceded in death by two grandsons, Thomas Wright and Tracey Landes; one great grandson, Jacob Nicholson; six siblings, Harold Gangloff, Henry Gangloff, Marie Carter, Margaret Kobel, Esther Slusser, and Mildred Lamb.

Due to COVID, there will be no funeral service. A private family graveside service will be held at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Logansport.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Faith Lutheran Church.
