Julian “Shorty: Alvin Neff, 90, Logansport, died at 2:52 p.m. Thursday, March 22, 2010, in Chase Center, Logansport.

Born Jan. 24, 1920, in Logansport, he was the son of Claude Alvin Neff and Gayle Julian. He was married Feb. 14, 1946, in Clawson, Mich., to Lily Maye Puterbaugh, who preceded in death Dec. 20, 1999.

Shorty was employed by the 18th Street Elevator (Forever).

He was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church. Shorty was also a decorated World War II Army veteran.

Surviving are son, Julian Lee Neff, Logansport; grandson, Matthew Lee Neff, Logansport; brother, Dan Neff and wife, Betty, Florida; sister, Thelma Atwood, Fowler; and sisters-in-law, Fran Neff, Logansport, and Rosie Neff, Indiana.

He was preceded in death by five brothers and four sisters.

Funeral services will be at 11:30 a.m. Monday at Hillcrest Baptist Church with Pastor Tim Berlin officiating.

Burial, with full military graveside rites, will be in St. John’s Cemetery, Logansport.

Friends may call from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Gundrum Funeral Home, and one hour before services Monday at the church.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Hillcrest Baptist Church.
