Kenneth E. Deitrich, Logansport, 80, died 4 p.m. Saturday, March 13,
2010, at his residence. He was born Oct. 20, 1929, in Logansport, to
Robert Deitrich and Jessie Gertrude Soncarty. He married Carole
Sue Smith on March 22, 1953, in the Galveston Methodist Church.
He was a farmer and a member of the Clymer’s United Methodist
Church, Tipton Masonic Lodge No. 33, Scottish Rite Valley of
Indianapolis, Murat Temple of Indianapolis, Logansport Shrine Club,
Indiana Farm Bureau, Farm Bureau Credit Union Trustees, Elk’s
Lodge No. 66, American Legion Post No. 60, Voiture No. 729 40 & 8,
V.F.W. Post No. 3790 and the Clymer’s Volunteer Fire Department.
Mr. Deitrich was a Korean War Army Veteran.
He is survived by his wife, Carole Sue Deitrich, Logansport; two
daughters, Sandra Heckard and husband, John, Logansport, Beth
Flagg and husband, Richard, New Haven; a son, Duane Deitrich
and wife, Theresa, Logansport; eight grandchildren, Matthew
Heckard and wife, Jessica, Acton, Kimberly Pursch and
husband, Jeff, Noblesville, Zachary Deitrich, Logansport, Baleigh
Deitrich, Logansport, Brooklyn Nicoson and husband, Matt,
Zionsville, Erika Lynn Dubois, Evansville, Kyle Dubois, Lafayette,
Jessica Dubois, Fort Wayne; three great grandchildren, Makenzie
Lynn, Alexander, Ruby, and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by one brother, Ronald Deitrich.
Funeral services are10 a.m. Tuesday at Gundrum Funeral Home.
Pastor Kevin Drane will officiate. Burial will be at St. Johns
Cemetery, Logansport, with full military rites. Visitation will be 2 to 8
p.m. today at the funeral home. Masonic services will be 7 p.m. today
followed by a shrine processional.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Shriners Hospitals For
Children, Clymer’s Volunteer Fire Department or the Clymer’s
United Methodist Church.
