L. Virginia Marcellino

Virginia Marcellino passed away at Woodbridge Health Campus October 25, 2024. She was born at home on the family farm in Washington Township Carroll County Indiana to Edna Martin Yeager and Jesse Yeager on October 8, 1923. She graduated from Deer Creek High School. She attended Purdue University and graduated from Northwestern University receiving a degree in Physical Therapy. 

On December 20, 1945 she married George Lincoln Marcellino in Wareham, Massachusetts. They lived in Massachusetts for five years before returning to Carroll County. They were married sixty-six years until George’s passing.

Virginia was a member of Faith Lutheran Church and enjoyed singing in the choir, bible studies, and church gatherings. She also loved being a part of cooking and serving Thanksgiving dinners at Campus House Ministry to 350 international students at Purdue University for several years. 

She had many hobbies including working in her yard, china painting, cross stitch, and needlepoint. She loved entering them at the fair as well as giving her needlework away to friends and family. She took up golf after retirement and played until she was 92. She loved to work on improving her game as well as walking the course. She was a life-long learner. She tackled learning computers by computerizing farm records, designing cards, and keeping up with her grandchildren on Facebook. She always kept up with new advances in the medical field, especially in her field of physical therapy. Must of all, she enjoyed her grand and great grandchildren and attending their activities.

Virginia is survived by her two sons David Marcellino (Diane) of Indianapolis, Paul Marcellino (Terri) of Camden, niece Ann Ridenour (James) of Wabash; 5 granddaughters, Megan Dieckman (Jason) Geneva, Il, Ann Marcellino of Portland, OR, Katie Van Sloten (Dustin) of Eau Clare, WI, Lara Chase (Daniel) of Lafayette, and Dana McKinnis (Neil) of West Lafayette. She is also survived by 3 great grandsons: Braden Dieckman, Oscar and Asher McKinnis and 2 great granddaughters Aubrey and Kayla Dieckman.

She was predeceased by her husband, her parents, 4 sisters: Thelma Pekary, Charlene Robeson, Jeanette McClure, Marjorie Bailey and two brothers Edwin and Charles Yeager.

Memorial contributions may be given to Faith Lutheran Church-6765 E 800 N Logansport, IN 46947 or Purdue Christian Campus House- 1000 Mitch Daniels Blvd, West Lafayette, IN 47906. 

Services will be at Faith Lutheran Church. Visitation will be November 2, 2024, 1:00-2:30pm. The funeral service will follow after the visitation. Graveside service will follow the funeral service at Camden Cemetery. Pastor Kristen Schmid is officiating.
