Larry Joe Baker, 76, of Danville, passe d away Sunday, September 13, 2015 at Hendricks Regional Hospital in Danville, IN.

Born on May 19, 1939 in Logansport, he was the son of the late Ollie and Mary (Glosser) Baker.

Larry was a police officer for the City of Logansport, he retired as Chief of the Detective Division after 20 years. He also worked for the Cass County Sheriff's Department as a dispatcher, and later served as First Deputy under Sheriff Bob Rozzi.

Larry enjoyed playing and coaching softball, and watching sports, especially the Cubs. He cherished the time he spent with his family, most of all his grandchildren.  He participated in the 2001 World Police and Fire Games.  Larry also threw the shot put in the White River Park State Games.  He was a member of Avon United Methodist Church and a life member of the FOP.

Surviving Larry is his companion, Cindy Mosier, Danville; five sons, Jim Baker, Terre Haute; Danny (Deb) Baker, Logansport; David (Joyce) Cunningham, Virginia; Craig (Kristen) Cress, South Dakota; Adam (Crystal) Baker, Royal Center; daughter, Stacey (Nathan) DeHaven-Begle, Pittsboro, IN; sister, Marion Campbell; sister-in-law, Julia Baker, both of Logansport; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by six brothers, and three sisters.

A celebration of life will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, September 17, 2015 at Gundrum Funeral Home and Crematory with Ed Johnson officiating.  Burial will be in the Mount Hope Cemetery, Logansport.

Visitation will be from 4:00 - 8:00 PM on Wednesday also in the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the F.O.P. of Cass County.
