Larry Pownell

Larry D. Pownell, 79 of Logansport, passed away Thursday, March 30, 2017, at Woodbridge Health Campus in Logansport.

Born on September 2, 1937 in Phoenix, AZ, he was the son of the late Helen Pownell. Larry was a car salesman and owner of Larry’s Auto for 30 years.

Larry was a 1956 graduate of Grass Creek high School and a member of the Rossville United Methodist Church. He was a pilot and flight instructor with over 7000 hours of flight time. Larry drove a school bus for Delphi Community Schools for 15 years. Larry also served as a police officer and Chief of Police in Delphi for 7 years.

Surviving are two sons, Bryan Pownell, Bedford, IN; Troy Pownell, Lafayette; four daughters, Debbie (Brad) Campbell, Florida; Cheryl (Tim) Howell, Logansport; Susan Pownell; Mindy Pownell, both of Lafayette; ten Grandchildren; aunt, Mary (John) Marsh, Fairfax, VA.

A celebration of life will be held at 7:00 PM on Tuesday, April 4, 2017 in the Gundrum Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM until the time of service.
