Laurel M. Larimore Jr. 89, of Galveston, passed away, with his daughters beside him, Monday, May 25, 2020 at St. Vincent Hospital in Kokomo.
Born on May 28, 1930 in Delphi, Indiana, he is the son of the late Laurel M. Larimore Sr. and Mary Alice (Kleckner) Larimore. On May 9, 1954 in Deer Creek, IN, he married the love of his life and best friend, Vera Mae McFatridge who preceded in death on June 27, 2017.
He was proud of being a Deer Creek Cricket and graduating from there in 1949. After high school, Laurel served his country in the United States Army, during the Korean War. Junior worked in construction for Sam Gray and Slusser’s Green Thumb and was a member of Faith Lutheran Church. Laurel was an avid IU, Colts and White Sox fan. He loved working outside in his yard and garden, he was especially proud of growing and sharing his tomato crop. Laurel also liked to work on his lawn mowers and antique cars. He always bragged about his grandchildren and great grandchildren and enjoyed attending their sporting events.
Surviving are two daughters, Joy (Mike) Holt, Kokomo; Marsha Larimore, Logansport; grandson, Michael (Jessica) Holt II, Kokomo; granddaughter, Stephanie (Chris Butler) Holt, Greenwood; five great grandchildren, Hailey Holt, Austin Holt, Rylee Holt, Garrett Butler and Delilah Butler; two sisters, Nancy A. Larimore, Logansport; Ruth Ann Domke, Kokomo; two brothers, Terry Wayne (Barbara) Larimore, Kokomo; Larry E. “Buck” (Paula) Larimore, Logansport; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, and three brothers, Phillip Larimore, John K. Larimore, and Harold “Max” Larimore.
A funeral service will be held at 1:30 PM on Thursday, May 28, 2020 at Gundrum Funeral Home and Crematory with Mark Spaulding officiating. Burial will follow at the Deer Creek Hopewell Cemetery in Deer Creek, IN.
Visitation will be held from 12:30 until the time of service on Thursday.
Attendance during the visitation and the funeral will be limited to 25 people, with the immediate family being prioritized over other guests.
In lieu of flowers memorial contrubitions may be made to the Faith Lutheran Church.
