Lela M. Young, 93, Logansport, died at 4:05 p.m. Sunday, April 15, 2012, at Logansport Memorial Hospital.

Born June 24, 1918, in Hawkins County, Tenn., she was the daughter of Charles Kirkpatrick and Mary Storey. She was married May 6, 1938, to Parks Lee Young, who preceded her in death July 22, 1973.

Lela retired from the Memorial Hospital in 1979, where she worked in the cafeteria. She was a member of Baptist Church in Flora.

Surviving are sons, William Joseph Young and wife, Nibia, Indianapolis, Larry Lynn Young and wife, Barbara, Chicago, and Robert “Bob” Young and wife, Diana, Burlington; daughters, Imogene Spradling, Logansport, Linda Young Manis and husband, John, Tullahoma, Tenn., and Charlene Young Graves and husband, Jack, Watseka, Ill.; 18 grandchildren; 54 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one son-in-law, Gene Spradling; one brother, Robert Kirkpatrick; and two sisters, Alice West and Beulah Draper.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Gundrum Funeral Home with Pastor Dan Butcher officiating. Burial will be in Maplelawn Cemetery, Flora.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to American Diabetes Association or Juvenile Diabetes Foundation.
