Services for Lester Cortez Harlin, 78, Logansport, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in Gundrum Funeral Home.
He died at 2:50 p.m. Wednesday in his daughterâs residence.
Born Oct. 20, 1929, in Monroe County, Ky., he was the son of Ezra and Evie Hagan Harlin. He was married May 20, 1961, in Hartsville, Tenn., to Clarice J. Weaver, who preceded in death May 31, 2007.
Lester retired from Chrysler Corp. in 1990 after 32 years of service. He also was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in the Korean War.
He was a member of the VFW Post 3790 and Eagles Lodge 323, and was a member of All Saints Catholic Church.
Surviving are son, Jerry Harlin and wife, Jynell, Logansport; daughters, Jennifer Layer and husband, Mark, and Janette Hines and husband, Scott, all of Royal Center; sisters, Geneva Propes and Cleedith Piercy, both of Logansport; and four grandchildren, Jessica LeMaster and husband, Michael, Johnathan Harlin, Kevin Hines and Rachel Hines.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Kenneth Harlin and Beechum Harlin.
Rev. Mr. Juan Rodriguez will officiate. Burial, with full military graveside rites, will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
