Lewis L. Glassburn, 78, Walton, died at 3:29 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 14, 2010, in Logansport Memorial Hospital.

Born Feb. 17, 1932, in Miami County, he was the son of Ray H. and Mae Baker Glassburn. He was married Aug. 5, 1951, in Miami Baptist Church at Adamsboro to Doris J. Read.

Lewis retired in 2001 as an equipment operator for Bowyer Excavating. Lewis had also retired from the Indiana State Police after serving from 1956 to 1966.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army who served in the Korean War.

He was a former member of New Waverly Masonic Lodge. He enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family. He really enjoyed spending time working in his woods and running his equipment.

Surviving are his wife, Doris J. Glassburn, Walton; daughter, Debra Barr and husband, Stan, Noblesville; sons, Michael R. Glassburn and wife, Tammy, Walton, and Mark L. Glassburn and wife, Shelly, Peru; sisters, Sue Dutchess and Jane Boe and husband, Jim, all of Noblesville; brother, Tom Glassburn and wife, Phyllis, Walton; six granddaughters, Bobbi Henderson, Christina Steiner, Elizabeth Barr, Vanessa Barr, Felicia Glassburn and Kayla Glassburn; and two great-granddaughters, Abigail and Gracie Henderson.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Gundrum Funeral Home with Carol Sickler officiating.

Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.

Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or The American Diabetes Association.
