Lurabelle Hiatt

Lurabelle J. Hiatt, 87, passed away on Monday January 29, 2018 in Chase Center, Logansport.

Born on January 7, 1931 in Huntington County, IN, she was the daughter to the late Robert C. and Opal D. (Hall) Myers.

On July 10, 1948 in Denver, IN Lurabelle married Donald E. Thorrington who preceded in death July 14, 1966. On September 6, 1981 in Logansport she married Jimmie “Jim” D. Hiatt who preceded in death May 1, 2003.

Lurabelle retired in 1992 from Wilson Foods after working for 21 years. Previously she has worked for General Tire for 10 years. Lurabelle was a member of the Red Hat Society, V.F.W. Post #3790 Auxiliary, American Legion Auxiliary and the Niddee Shrine Guild.

Surviving are two daughters, Cindy Thorrington Haggerty, Logansport; Jean (John) Strahlem, Logansport; step daughter, Teresa Hiatt, Royal Center, IN; one sister, Edna I. Cover, Swayzee, IN; one grandchild, David Hagerty, Logansport; one step grandchild, Lori (George) Barkus, Logansport, IN; one great grandchild, Brooke Stevenson, Texas; and four nieces, Bobbi (Tom) Combs, Ft. Wayne, IN; and Cathy (Jeff) Duncan, Swayzee, IN; Tammy Thorrington Aguirre and Phyllis Thorrington; one nephew, Phillip Thorrington.

Preceding in death is one son, Steven W. Thorrington, one grandson, Donald E. Gaddis, one son-in-law, Gary Haggerty, one step grandson, Tom Strahlem,  and one great granddaughter, Jessica Chapman.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 9:30am on Friday February 2, 2018 in Gundrum Funeral Home with Pastor Dan Ashton Officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Hope Cemetery.

Visitation hours will be from 3:00pm until 6:00pm on Thursday February 1, 2018 in Gundrum Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
