Marilyn Hubenthal, 99, passed away peacefully on January 7, 2025, at the Waterford Nursing Home in Kokomo, Indiana.
Marilyn was born to Merrill and Lois Bevington in Logansport, Indiana on April 29, 1925. She is preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Charles. She is survived by her three children, James (Carolyn) Hubenthal, Mary (Gene) Stang, Charles D. (Yoshiko) Hubenthal, and by 10 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Marilyn grew up on a farm near Galveston, Indiana. In her youth, she was active in her church and in Rural Youth. During the war, she worked at the Stellite Company, making parts for military aircraft of WWII. Years later she would marry Charles, her husband of 71 years. It is very likely that Charles, a carrier pilot in WWII, flew planes using parts her company supplied. After the war, Marilyn worked at Prudential Insurance for a few years, until a mutual friend introduced her to Charles, and in her own words, "That was it." Married on April 8, 1951, Charles and Marilyn began living on the farm where they would reside for nearly the remainder of their lives.
Marilyn was a devoted wife and mother. She never forgot a birthday, always made time for her children, and made her kids each feel loved. She made the house a home through her cooking, cleaning, taking care of her children... all the time singing or humming as she went about her tasks. After the children were grown, Marilyn worked in the Cass County Accessor's Office for many years. Throughout her married life, she was a very active member of Metea Baptist Church, taking part in the choir, cooking for church dinners, and doing what was needed to support the church community.
She was loved by all of her family and will be sorely missed.
Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. till 11:00 a.m., Friday, January 10, at Metea Baptist Church, Metea, Indiana. Funeral services will begin at 11:00 and burial will be at the Metea Baptist Church Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Kokomo Rescue Mission or Samaritan's Purse.
Gundrum Funeral Home has been entrusted with Marilyn’s funeral arrangements. You may sign Marilyn’s guest book and send online condolences to the family at www.gundrumcares.com
