Marion A. Leffel, 88, Logansport, died at 11:55 a.m. Sunday, June 12, 2011, at Chase Nursing Home. He died peacefully surrounded by his family and loving Chase employees.
He was born Sept. 26, 1922, in Logansport, to Roy and Gladys Kinzey Leffel. He was married Feb. 23, 1956, to Theda G. âAlbertâ Turnpaugh, who survives.
He was a 1940 graduate of Twelve Mile High School and attended Grace Fellowship Church. In 1940, he joined the U.S. Navy and served until 1944. He worked for 30-plus years at the Pennsylvania Railroad as a car repairman, and retired from Transco in 1984. He loved woodworking and spending time with his family.
Surviving are his wife, Theda Leffel, Logansport; stepson, Donald Albert, Logansport; stepdaughters, Diane Hunt and husband, Jerry, and Linda Dunkle and husband, Dave, all of Logansport; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Imogene Leffel and Jerry Barlick; brother, Lloyd Leffel; grandson, Jerry L. Hunt; and daughter-in-law, Jackie Albert.
Services for Marion A. Leffel will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Gundrum Funeral Home. Officiating services will be Pastor Jay McKinley. Full military rites will be conducted.
Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until time of services on Wednesday at the funeral home.
