Marvin L. Pumel, 83, Logansport, died at 4:20 a.m. Monday, Sept. 5, 2011, at Sycamore Village Nursing Home Kokomo.
Born Nov. 9, 1927, in Logansport, he was the son of Glen D. and Mary Tieman Pumel. He was married June 29, 1952, in Logansport, to Martha A. McDonald.
Marvin retired from General Tire Company in 1990. He was a 1946 graduate of Logansport High School and attended Indiana University Kokomo. Mr. Pumel was a World War II U.S. Army veteran where he served in the 82nd Airborne Paratrooper Division.
He was a member of Wheatland Avenue United Methodist Church, Tipton Masonic Lodge 33, Murat Temple of Indianapolis, Logansport Shrine Club, Elks Lodge 66 where he was a past Exalted Ruler, VFW Post 3790 and Logansport American Legion. Marvin was an avid fisherman and golfer. As a trumpet player, he enjoyed big-band music and the sounds of the 40s.
Surviving are his wife, Martha Ann Pumel, Logansport; son, Mark L. Pumel and Amy, Kokomo; daughters, Marla Stacy and John, Bastrop, Texas, and Marsha Hansen and Dave, Tustin, Calif.; grandchildren, Brittney Maxey and TJ, Elkhart, Kelsey Pumel, Indianapolis, Brandon Pumel and Tiffany, Elkhart, Marissa Stacy, Bastrop, Texas, and Hailey Hansen, Logan Hansen, Keely Hansen and Kiley Hansen, all of Tustin, Calif.; great-grandchildren, Brooklyn Maxey, Braylon Maxey and Kingston Pumel, all of Elkhart; sister, Eileen Lyons and husband, Jack, Logansport; and nephews, Tom Lyons and Sharon, Tennessee, and Mike Lyons and Becky, Indiana.
Services will be at 4 p.m. Friday at Gundrum Funeral Home with Pastor Carolyn DeWitt officiating.
Burial, with full military graveside rites, will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, where the Logansport Elks will hold a service at 3:45 p.m.
