Mary Ellen Breckenridge, 85, Lucerne, died at 5:36 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 24, 2011, at WoodBridge Health Campus.
Born Aug. 15, 1925, in Logansport, she was the daughter of Roscoe L. and Erna Wendt Hinkle. In May of 1986, she married Fred Breckenridge, who survives.
She worked as a legal secretary to attorney Lynn OâNeill for several years. After moving to Lafayette in 1970, she worked as a school secretary in West Lafayette School Corporation. She retired in 1986 to enjoy her golden years with her loving husband, Fred Breckenridge.
She enjoyed Civic Theatre, where she had played Molly Brown, in âThe Unsinkable Molly Brownâ and Adelaide, in âGuys and Dolls,â to mention a few parts. She loved doing crafts, quilting and sewing and always had a project going in her dining room. Her dream was to play the piano, and she made a good stab at it! She amazed all of us with her crossword puzzle skills.
She was a member of All Saints Catholic Church.
She was a wonderful mother and grandmother to her five children and their spouses, 15 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
The family would especially like to thank The Neal Home, WoodBridge Health Campus and Southern Care Hospice for all their help and kindness.
