Mary Bruce

Services for Mary K. Bruce, 78, Logansport, will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in Gundrum Funeral Home.

She died at 2:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 16, 2009, in Logansport Memorial Hospital.

Born Oct. 20, 1930, in Lucerne, she was the daughter of Monroe Stevens and Edna Strong.

She was married April 15, 1952, in Lucerne, to Lloyd Bruce Jr., who preceded in death July 23, 1997.

Mary graduated from Lucerne High School in 1948 and from Indianapolis Methodist Hospital School of Nursing in 1952. She retired in 1993 as a nurse for the Cass County Health Department, where she served for 10 years.

Survivors include daughters, Valli Hood and husband, Dave, Logansport, and Marla Evanich and husband, Tom, Logansport; sons, Greg Bruce and wife, Laura, Laguna Beach, Calif., and Scott Bruce and wife, Diane, Logansport; brother, James Stevens and wife, Rethel, Lucerne; sister, Lois Stevens, Logansport; sister-in-law, Betty Shelton, Battle Creek, Mich.; nine grandchildren, Devon Hood, Lindsey Hood, Brad Sparks, Kelley Sparks, Nick Bruce, Allison Evanich, Elaine Evanich, Brooke Campbell and Mackenzie Campbell; three great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Pastor David Sommers will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.

Friends may call from 1 to 4 p.m. today in the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Zion United Methodist Church, in care of Donna Ross, PO Box 32, Lucerne IN 46950.
