Mary E. Chamness, 89, Logansport, died at 1:15 a.m. Monday, May 31, 2010, in Millerâs Merry Manor, Logansport.
Born Aug. 23, 1920, in South Haven, Mich., she was the daughter of Edgar and Caroline Greenleaf Tharp. She was married April 16, 1938, in Winamac, to John D. Chamness Sr., who preceded in death Jan. 18, 2002.
Mary was a homemaker and had worked at the Winamac Floral Shop for 10 years.
Surviving are son, John Chamness and wife, Carol, Logansport; three granddaughters, Pamela Starkweather and husband, Frank, Wynona Lake, Jenise Burkhart and husband, Darwin, Logansport, and Christina Walrod and husband, Todd, McCordsville; six great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Darlene Miller and Leonna Cox, and three brothers, Clyde, Marvin and George Tharp.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Gundrum Funeral Home with Pastor George Plasterer officiating.
Burial will be in Winamac Cemetery, Winamac.
Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
