Services for Mary O. Harness, 81, Walton, will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday in Upper Deer Creek Church.
She died at 12:51 p.m. Monday, Feb. 18, 2008, in Howard Regional Healthcare System, Kokomo.
Born March 2, 1926, in Cass County, she was the daughter of Owen and Dora O. Poundstone Shope. She was married June 25, 1950, in the front yard of her home in Deer Creek Township, to George âWayneâ Harness, who survives.
Mary was a homemaker.
She was a member of Deacon Grange 2315, a member of Upper Deer Creek Church, and also a member of Buttonwood Bay Church in Sebring, Fla. Not only did she enjoy cooking and quilting in her spare time, but also spending time with her family. Mary always had a warm, loving heart and made everyone feel as if they were welcome.
Also surviving are daughters, Sarah Horn and husband, Torrence, Walton, and Nancy Black and husband, Roger, Logansport; son, Bill Harness and wife, Cathy, Galveston; grandsons, Tim Erny and wife, Michelle, Galveston, and Andrew Horn, West Lafayette; granddaughters, Beth Horn, Dallas, Texas, and Nikki Black and fiancé, Jeremy Cover and Hanna Black, all of Logansport; stepgrandson, Brad Fettig, Lafayette; stepgranddaughter, Kristie Nelson and husband, Nate, Kokomo; stepgreat-grandsons, Ricky and Kegan Byrd, Galveston, Cameron and Ethan Fettig, Logansport, and Logan Nelson, Kokomo; stepgreat-granddaughter, Emily Fettig, Logansport; special friends, Howard and Bea Flota, Juanita Burdick, and Lee and Doris Roberts, all of Sebring, Fla., and Richard Smith, Lakeland, Fla.; several brothers and sisters-in-law; and several nieces and nephews.
Pastor Joe Coffin will officiate. Burial will be in Galveston Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Gundrum Funeral Home and one hour before services Saturday at the church.
