Services for Mary Mildred âMillieâ Merritt, 82, Logansport, will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday in Gundrum Funeral Home.
She died at 9:45 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 3, 2008, in Millerâs Merry Manor.
Born Dec. 5, 1925, in Shawneetown, Ill., she was the daughter of Ray and Minerva Short Combs. She was married Aug. 2, 1942, in Jackson, Tenn., to Charles Henry Merritt, who preceded in death April 28, 1966.
Millie retired from Essex and was also a former cook for Elkâs Lodge 66 and Eagles Lodge 323.
She was a member of Elkâs Lodge 66.
Surviving are daughters, Margaret Cates and Janet Hagene, both of Logansport; sons, Jerry Merritt, Columbus, Ohio, and Sam Merritt and wife, Donna, Coal City, Ill.; brother, Charles âBudâ Combs and wife, Carolyn, Lucerne; sister, Eva Long and husband, Raymond, Haleyville, Ala.; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding in death are two daughters, Helen Cates and Sharon McGee; two grandchildren; three sisters; and one brother.
The Rev. William Art Maloney will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.
Friends may call from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, where Elkâs services will be held 5 p.m.
