Mary Orr, 105, passed away at 11:30 AM, Wednesday, March 15, 2017 at Miller’s Merry Manor, Logansport, Cass County, Indiana.

Born September 2, 1911 in Deer Creek Township, Cass County, she was the first child and loving daughter of the late Ross & Clara Belle Harper Cree.

After her 1929 graduation from Washington Township High School she completed Indiana University School of Nursing,1933, and went on to retire from nursing after 25 years at Memorial Hospital, Logansport, and private duty nursing.

On April 23, 1936 Mary was united in marriage with Logansport firefighter Robert Lesh “Ham” Orr at her parent’s farm south of Logansport.  Their union of 46 years was blessed with one son, Robert Cree Orr.

Mary was a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who found enjoyment in family and caring for her home.  She was famous for her baking, gardening, and loved reading.  In later life she was an energetic traveler with family and Housewives Unlimited.  She was a friend to neighbors and enjoyed her Calvary Church craft circle. Her church and Florence Nightingale Society memberships lasted over 70 years.

Mary is survived by her son & wife Kathie of Canton, Michigan; grandsons Robert Paige Orr (Natalie DiGiorgio), London, England; and Caleb Cree Aleksandr Orr (Bianca Danieli) Singapore, Singapore.  Five great-grandchildren:  Margot, Otto, Lupo Orr in England and Leonardo and Raffaella Orr in Singapore.

She was preceded in death by her husband (November 26, 1982); her parents, brother & brothers-in-law, Lowell F. & Janet Spitznoggle Cree; Raymond E. & Jesse Gill Orr; Harry D. & Hazel McFatridge Orr; James Porter “Jack” & Eula Dove Orr; and perhaps her best friend and sister-in-law, Edith Marie Orr Flanegin & Loren as well as many nieces and nephews.

A private burial will be held at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Logansport.

A visitation will be held from 10:30 AM until noon on Saturday March 25, 2017 with a Memorial Service following visitation officiated by Pastor Charles Compton in the Gundrum Funeral Home at 1603 E. Broadway, Logansport, Indiana, 46947,  and a  lunch will follow at Calvary Presbyterian Church, 701 Spencer Street, Logansport.
