Mary Shideler

Mary Ruth Shideler, 85, of Logansport, passed away Sunday, July 18, 2021 at Miller’s Merry Manor in Logansport.

Mary was born on June 12, 1936 in Logansport, Indiana, and is the daughter to the late James Franklin and Ruth B. (Kistler) Sutton.  On February 26, 1954 at Fletchers Lake Church, she married William “Bill” F. Shideler who preceded in death on Sept. 24, 2020.

Mary was a homemaker and worked at the Washington Township Elementary School as a teacher’s aide while her children were in school. Later Mary worked at Stillwater Academy and was a member of the Living Truth Bible Church in Walton.

Surviving Mary are her four children, John (Judith) Shideler, Peoria, AZ; Jay Shideler, Logansport; Jalene (Thomas) Lee, Fishers, IN; Joe (Denise) Shideler, Logansport; her nine grandchildren, Carrie Walker, Jessica Walker Myers, Jeremy Foster, Jason Shideler, Stephanie Rusk, Sara Shideler, Shannon Penn, Jennifer Shideler & Josh Shideler; sixteen great grandchildren, one great-great grandson and one great-great granddaughter; and a sister, Wilma Shoemaker, Peoria, AZ.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brother, Harold Sutton; two sisters, Norma Robbins and Helen Vernon; and a great great grandson, Porter Rusk.

A celebration of life service will be held at 10:30 am Friday July 23, 2021 in the Gundrum Funeral Home with Pastor Jerry Moore officiating. Burial will be in Shideler Cemetery.

A visitation will be held from 5 – 8 pm Thursday July 22, 2021 in the Gundrum Funeral Home
