Melvin Leon McAninch

Melvin Leon McAninch, age 87 of Burnettsville, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family on Easter Sunday.

Born September 23, 1937, in Red Bridge, Indiana to the late Kenneth and Lucille (Landis) McAninch. On June 28, 1959, Melvin married his wife of 65 years, Patrica J. Vernon, who survives.

Melvin retired as manager of Hicksgas of Flora after 42 years of service. He was an avid outdoors man, avid hunter and enjoyed spending time with family and friends. In his later years he also enjoyed Ballroom dancing with his wife.

Survivors, including his wife Patrica, and two daughters, Vonda (James) Lind, Monticello, IN; Lucinda (John) Rohlman, Huntingburg, IN; one son, Matthew Wade McAninch, Burnettsville, IN; three brothers, Merrill McAninch, Monticello, IN; Larry (Jill) McAninch, Burnettsville, IN; John (Dan) McAninch, Kokomo, IN; five grandchildren, Amanda (Jon) Wheeldon, Andrew Lind, Madison (Rian) Kerst, Drake McAninch, Curtis Rohlman; two great grandchildren, Adam and Aiden Wheeldon; several nieces and nephews.

Melvin was also preceded in death by three brothers, Rodger Allen, Kenneth Eugene and Marvin Lee McAninch and one sister, Betsy Alice McAninch.

A celebration of life will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday April 26, 2025, in the Gundrum Funeral Home with Pastor Ian McMillan officiating.

A gathering of family and friends will be held from 12:00 pm until the time of services on Saturday at the funeral home.
