Mervin H. Minks, age 98, of Logansport, passed away Sunday, October 9, 2016 at Miller's Merry Manor in Logansport.

Born on May 23, 1918 in Bloomfield, Indiana, he was the son of the late Guy and Edith (Constable) Minks. On March 24, 1940 he married Gerald Elizabeth Shrode who preceded in death in December of 1968. Then, on December 24, 1969 in Indianapolis he married Mary Lighty who preceded in death on December 12, 1997.

Mervin came to Logansport in 1940. He worked for Hendrickson Motor Sales, Logansport Machine Company, in the engineering department, and at that time started his own accounting business. In 1949, he became office manager of KLK Manufacturing Company, which later became ELCO. Mervin retired from ELCO Industries as president and executive manager.

Mervin was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene.

Surviving are two sons, Benton (Louise) Minks, Leverett, MA; Stanley (Barbara) Minks, Westfield, IN; daughter, Marcella (Tom) Mays Schlee, Marion, IN; sister, Martha Becker, Cincinnati, OH; seven grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; and one great great granddaughter.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Marion and Paul Minks.

A celebration of life will be held at 1:30 PM Thursday Oct. 13, 2016 in the Mount Hope Cemetery Chapel with Pastor Dirk Raderstorf officiating. Burial will follow in the cemetery.

A visitation will be held at the cemetery chapel from 12:30 PM until time of services.
