Michael J. Rushinsky Sr., 83 of Logansport, passed away Thursday February 16, 2017, at Memorial Hospital in Logansport.
Born on October 11, 1933 in Lorain, OH, he was the son of the late Nicholas and Mary (Swinkunas) Rushinsky. On September 16, 1961 in Elyria, Ohio he married Sandra Jean Rakich who preceded in death on February 6, 2007.
Mike was a talented inventor and engineer and he held many patents for the automotive and aerospace industry. He retired from Small Parts Inc. in 2000 after 18 years of service and had also worked at Timms Spring Company Elyria, OH. Mike was a United States Army Veteran. He was a master craftsman and woodworker, an avid golfer. He was a pilot who built experimental aircraft and gyrocopters. Mike was a talented musician and played in local bands with his brother, Bob Rushinsky. His favorite music was polka music. He inspired his grandchildren to love music, woodworking and airplanes. Mike loved his family. He enjoyed boating, fishing, was a member of the EAA Association and Elks Lodge #66.

(Wrendi) Rushinsky Jr., Witcha Kansas; Scott Rushinsky, Logansport; brother, John Rushinsky, Fort Wayne, IN; sister, Veronica Loper, Lakewood, OH; grandchildren, Luke Koniarczyk, Fort Collins, CO; Daniel Koniarczyk, Cleveland, OH; Christian (Holli) Burkey, Houston, TX; Jonathon Ulisse, Austin, TX; Brittany Burkey, Austin, TX; Michelle (John) Pendleton, Fairway, Kansas; Rachael Rushinsky, Delphi, IN; Elijah Rushinsky, Brookston, IN; Isaiah Rushinsky, Lafayette, IN; Noah Rushinsky, Rochester, IN; great grandchildren, Anthony Burkey; Caleb Burkey; Benjamin Burkey; Johanna Pendleton; Chambers Pendleton; Liam Rushinsky; Toby Rushinsky.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Paul Rushinsky.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Monday, February 20, 2017 at All Saints Catholic Church with Fr. Clayton Thompson officiating. Military rites will be provided by the Cass County Honor Guard.
Visitation will be held from 1:00 – 5:00 PM on Sunday, February 19 in the Gundrum Funeral Home. A scripture service will be held at 4:30 PM Sunday at the funeral home.
