Michael Robert Wilhelm passed away at Memorial Hospital in Logansport, Indiana on December 15, 2015 at 9:21 am. He was born in Frankfort, Indiana to Sylvia Mae (Wilmoth) Wilhelm on November 7, 1945. On December 31, 1995 in Logansport he married Cathy L. (Williams) “Shidler”. He was honored to have served in the United States Army from 1963 to 1967 during a rare time of peace for this nation. He was a supply technician stationed in Germany and in England where he met his first wife, Sylvia “Anne” Elizabeth (Spencer) Wilhelm. He moved the family to Logansport in 1971 when he got a job at Wilson’s meat packing plant (now Tyson) and worked there until it’s closure in the late 90’s. After taking several temporary jobs, he finally found a job he enjoyed at the Chrysler Transmission Plant in Kokomo, Indiana until he retired in 2007.
He is survived by his wife, Cathy Wilhelm, Logansport; two daughters, Melissa (Scott) Grandstaff, Logansport; Lacey (Cory) Campbell, Kokomo; two sons, Paul Wilhelm, Noblesville; Michael S.
Wilhelm, Kokomo; one step son, Josh Shidler, Logansport; his older brother Ray Wilhelm, CA; his former wife, Anne Wilhelm, Noblesville; twelve grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews scattered throughout the United States and Europe.
He is preceded in death by his brother, David Wilhelm, and their mother, Sylvia.
A celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 pm Friday, Dec. 18 2015 in the Gundrum Funeral Home
A visitation will be from 11:00 am until time of services at the funeral home on Friday. A veteran’s service will be held just prior to funeral services.
